Frost, snow and slippery roads: what weather to expect in the coming days

On Tuesday, the skies will clear at times. At night, some snow is expected in Vidzeme, but the day will pass without significant precipitation. However, roads will be slippery in certain sections across the entire country! Overnight, temperatures will drop to -1…-6°C, and during the day most of the country will remain slightly below zero.

Wednesday will be cloudy, with occasional clear spells. Snow is expected in the southeastern regions, with the snow cover increasing by 5–9 cm. As before, some road sections will remain slippery! A light to moderate northeast and north wind will blow. Nighttime temperatures will be similar to Tuesday, but the Kurzeme coast along the gulf will be a bit warmer. The maximum daytime temperature is expected to be between -2 and +3°C.

On Thursday, snow is expected in the central and eastern regions, with snow cover increasing by 5–9 cm in some places. We also inform that on Thursday certain road sections will be slippery! A light to moderate northerly wind is expected, gradually shifting to the southwest and south from midday. Nighttime temperatures will be +2…-3°C, and during the day -2…+2°C.

It will be slightly warmer along the coast, where temperatures will stay a few degrees above zero.

At the end of the week, nighttime frost will persist in many places, while daytime temperatures will be colder mainly in the eastern part of the country. In the west and coastal areas, temperatures will more often rise above zero. Compared to the first half of the week, the intensity of precipitation will decrease; however, on certain days, as cyclone activity increases, the wind will strengthen—near the coast it will become gusty, reaching up to 16 m/s.
