On Wednesday, the sun will appear more frequently between the clouds. Snow is still expected in many places overnight, but during the day it will fall only in isolated areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
A light to moderate southerly wind will blow overnight, easing during the daytime. Night-time air temperatures will drop to between –4 and –9°C, but in areas where skies clear, temperatures may fall as low as –10 to –13°C. During the day, temperatures will range from –3 to –7°C, while the Kurzeme coast will be slightly milder, with temperatures around –3°C.
On Thursday and Friday, skies will remain mostly cloudy, with no significant precipitation expected.
A light wind will continue overnight into Thursday, but during the day it will strengthen from the east and northeast. By the night into Friday, gusts along the Kurzeme coast may reach 15–18 m/s. Frost will persist both day and night across the entire country, with temperatures remaining below zero. In eastern regions, night-time temperatures on Friday morning may drop to as low as –15°C.
Over the weekend, cloudy skies will continue, and snowfall is expected again across most of Latvia. Compared with the first half of the week, air temperatures will decrease by a few more degrees and at times may approach –16°C.
