Frost at night, sunshine by day – a brief spring calm on Wednesday before rain returns

On Wednesday, skies will be partly cloudy, with occasional sunshine, and the weather will remain dry—no significant precipitation is expected, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

At night, winds will blow lightly to moderately from the northwest and west, shifting to the south during the day.

Overnight, temperatures will drop to between +2°C and +7°C, and in some areas—mainly in the west—ground frost may form with grass surface temperatures dropping to 0…–1°C. During the day, it will feel summery in many places, with temperatures rising to +15…+19°C, though it will be slightly cooler along the Gulf coast.

In the second half of the week, the weather will become rainier again. On Thursday, rain is expected mainly in the central and eastern regions, with heavy showers and thunderstorms possible in the east during the day. On Friday, rain will affect most of the country, with prolonged rainfall in the eastern parts.

On Thursday, winds will continue to blow lightly to moderately from the south, but may gust up to 15–19 m/s during thunderstorms. On Friday, the wind will calm down and become light. Nighttime temperatures will remain between +5°C and +11°C. Thursday will still be warm in many places, with daytime temperatures reaching +15…+20°C, but on Friday they will not exceed +14°C.

Over the weekend, similar weather is expected—mostly cloudy skies and widespread rain, with more intense precipitation in the east on Saturday. Nighttime temperatures will range from +4°C to +9°C, while daytime temperatures will stay between +10°C and +16°C. At the start of the new week, skies will remain mostly cloudy, but precipitation is expected to subside.
