Fog, cool nights and gusty winds – weather forecast for the coming days

On Monday, the sky will be partly cloudy, and in some central regions brief rain showers are possible, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

During the night and morning, fog will form in some areas, reducing visibility. A light to moderate west and northwest wind will blow, with gusts reaching up to 15 m/s along parts of the coast in the first half of the night. Overnight temperatures will drop to +8…+13°C, though along the coast it will be slightly warmer, around +14…+17°C. During the day, air temperatures will rise to +18…+22°C.

On Tuesday, sunshine will alternate with clouds, bringing occasional showers in central and eastern regions. A light to moderate westerly wind is expected, and fog will thicken in some places overnight and in the morning. Temperatures at night will fall to +10…+14°C, slightly warmer by a few degrees along the coast, while daytime highs will reach +20…+25°C, and up to +26°C in some western areas.

On the night to Wednesday, a band of precipitation will move across the country from the northwest,

bringing rain to most regions. The southwest and west wind will shift to the northwest and north, blowing at a light to moderate strength. Overnight lows will be +12…+15°C, while daytime temperatures will remain cooler, between +15…+20°C.

In the second half of the workweek and over the weekend, new cyclones will dominate the weather, bringing frequent rain showers across much of the country. Winds will also become gustier over the weekend. Nights will turn cooler, with temperatures dropping to +7…+12°C in some places, while daytime highs will stay within +15…+20°C, dipping a degree or two lower during the weekend.
