Fog and warm weather: snow to melt in all of Latvia

On Thursday, the 16th of January, the sky will be cloudy. Only eastern parts of Latvia will see some rain. The fog will periodically appear in many areas, impacting visibility. Many roads will remain slippery, as reported by Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

The wind will blow from the west and south-west, reaching a speed of 15-16 m/sec. Air temperature at night will drop to -1° C… +3° C, whereas daytime air temperature will reach +2° C… +6° C.

The sky will be cloudy on Friday and Saturday, with moments of clear sky. Some rain will come to eastern territories. Fog will appear as well, impacting visibility. Roads will remain slippery in some areas around the country! The wind will blow from the west and south-west, reaching a speed of up to 14 m/sec along the coast on the night to Saturday. On Friday, air temperature both at night and during the day will stay at +2° C… +6° C. Air temperature at night on Saturday will remain positive, reaching +4° C… +7° C.

At the end of the week, the volume of precipitation will go down again. Some rain is expected on the night to Sunday. The wind will calm down as well. No significant changes to air temperature are expected. This means the layer of snow will continue melting. Some low temperatures are expected at the beginning of next week. The volume of precipitation could go up. The wind will remain calm.
