Eurostat: Latvia’s inflation higher than average in EU and Eurozone in February

In February 2023 inflation in Latvia was higher than average in the European Union and Eurozone, according to data published by Eurostat.
Annual inflation in Latvia was 20.1% in February. Inflation was higher in Hungary (25.8%). Inflation lower than Latvia’s was in the Czech Republic (18.4%), Estonia (17.8%), as well as Poland and Lithuania (17.2% in both).
In February 2023, as compared with the same month of 2022, consumer price rise is observed in all EU member states.

The average inflation in the EU was 9.9% in February. In Eurozone it was 8.5%.

When compared with January, consumer prices in the EU and Eurozone have increased by 0.8%.
In Latvia, as well as Slovenia, consumer prices increased by 0.6% in February. In Lithuania and Estonia, as well as Bulgaria and Finland, prices increased by 0.7%.

Consumer prices went up in all EU member states. Inflation was the highest in Ireland (+1.5%).

Eurostat calculates inflation based on the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) of the European Union.
