Estonia’s Tallink announces no plans to restore ferry traffic to Stockholm soon

Estonian ferry operator Tallink reports that there are no plans to restore ferry traffic between Riga and Stockholm, says the company’s press-secretary Katri Linka.
She explains that after two very challenging years of the pandemic and then a sharp geopolitical and economic shock with the war in Ukraine,

Tallink is currently focused on reorganisation and restoration of operations on the main routes – connecting Estonia, Finland and Sweden.

«Once we have restored operations and deals on our main routes, we will start working on opportunities outside these main routes,» said Linka, adding that at the moment there is no definitive answer as to what will happen.
As previously reported, in April Tallink has plans to reopen Tallink Hotel Riga, which was previously closed due to the pandemic. No specific information about the opening date is available at this time. Tallink Hotel Riga was closed on the 18th of March 2020 and then briefly reopened again on the 1st of June. The hotel closed its doors again on the 18th of October 2020 due to the sharp drop of guests and epidemiological restrictions put in place to curb Covid-19 infections.
Tallink Grupp manages ferry traffic in the Baltic Sea under Tallink and Silja Line brands. The company also has an operator for three hotels in Tallinn and one in Riga. In the first half-year of 2022 Tallink Grupp concern operated with losses of EUR 40.66 million, which is 30.1% less than a year prior.
