Estonian ministry to end sports club contract over ignoring virus rules

A Tallinn sports club will see its contract terminated with the Estonian Justice Ministry after reports that the business has been fined for not obeying the nationwide epidemiological restrictions aimed at reducing the spread of Covid-19, Estonian public broadcaster ERR reports.
The issue has evolved around the Sparta sports club, located on Pärnu mnt in Tallinn. The Estonian Justice Ministry has stated it would end its contract with the club earlier from December 23, 2021.

Another reason for ending cooperation with the company is that the ministry staff has become less interested in attending it. «As we have significantly reduced our use of this sports club in recent years. In addition, we did not feel it ethical to work with a company that ignores coronavirus restrictions,» explained Katrin Lunt (Katrin Lunt), the spokesperson of the Estonian Justice Ministry.
Since October, the Estonian nationwide Covid-19 restrictions allows sports clubs to operate. Meanwhile, it is also required that all attendees – staff, members of the public etc. – present a valid coronavirus certificate, which for adults must be either proof of vaccination, or proof of recovery from the virus within the past six months, ERR reports.
