The events of the Beijing Winter Olympics will not be attended neither by members of the Estonian government, nor by Estonian President Alar Karis, ERR reports.
«The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not know of any Estonian government members planning to participate in the Beijing Olympics,» on Monday, January 17, Kristina Ots from the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted to ERR.

Government press secretary Sten Otsmaa added that Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas (Reform) will not travel to Beijing and there are no other government members planning to attend the coming Olympics. Estonian President Alar Karis announced in December that he would not be travelling to February’s Winter Olympics in Beijing, pointing to political factors.
The Beijing Winter Olympics will take place from February 4 to 20 in various places in China. The major sporting event normally attended by country presidents and other high political officials will this time be boycotted either on the political, or the diplomatic level by numerous countries, including Lithuania, Sweden, the US, the UK and Australia.
