Estonia bans access to Russian state media online

In Estonia, the online regulatory body has decided to required Estonian internet providers to restrict access to several Russian media websites, which, according to the tech watchdog, spread propaganda and incite hate, Estonian public broadcaster ERR reports.
The Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority stated that Estonian internet providers have to block and restrict end user access to seven websites: Ntv.ru, Ren.tv, 5-tv.ru, 78.ru, 1tv.com, Lenta.ru and Tass.ru. The decision will be in force for a period of 12 months. The body has said it would continue to monitor the content of these sites.

A day after Russia launched its current attack on Ukraine on February 24, the Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority ordered Estonian internet providers to stop broadcasting one Belarusian and four Russian channels: Belarus 24, RTR Planeta, NTV Mir, Belarus 24, Rossia 24 and TV Center International, ERR reports.
