On the Estonian labour market, hotels and restaurants have begun to look for staff for the distant summer season, showing business confidence in business opportunities despite current restrictions and high rate of coronavirus transmission, Estonian media report.
Public broadcaster ERR and news portal Ärileht reported that hospitality and catering were the most affected by coronavirus restrictions with many businesses making their personnel redundant. On the job ads’ website CV Keskus, currently, there are more than 700 job offers in hospitality, the firms marketing manager Henry Auväärt unveiled to Ärileht, pointing out that this is unusual as the availability of jobs in the sector usually decreases over winter.
«Many employers have probably deliberately started recruiting early to get ahead of competing job offers,» Auväärt evaluated. «With the increase in seasonal work in 2022, we expect to see record job vacancies in the field.»
Meanwhile, the CEO of the Estonian Association of Hotels and Restaurants, Killu Maidla, noted that at least 1,000 to 1500 additional employees will need to be recruited in hospitality in 2022 and the same amount in the catering sector, ERR and Ärileht report.
