Drones attack Moscow; air raid alert blares in Kyiv

Moscow expierenced drone attacks, and a Russian politician has already called them the worst attacks since the World War Two, while in Kyiv, air raids sounded for the third time in a day, writes Reuters.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, hostilities have mostly taken place on the territory of Ukraine, although Moscow has reported some attacks on its territory as well. The Kremlin has even reported one assassination attempt against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The morning attack on the 30th of May targeted the wealthiest neighborhoods of Moscow,

including the western part of the city, where the residences of Putin and other elite representatives are located. Two persons were injured, and residents were temporarily evacuated from two slightly damaged residential buildings. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that eight drones launched by Kyiv were shot down or diverted.
Lawmaker Maxim Ivanov declared that this is the heaviest attack on Moscow since the attacks of Nazi Germany during the World War Two and said that everyone should be aware of the new reality. Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukraine’s president, denied Kyiv was involved in the attacks, but said Ukrainians were pleased to watch and predicted the attacks would continue.
Kyiv has reported 4 dead and 34 injured in the airstrikes of 30th of may. More than 20 Iranian-made drones were shot down in Kyiv. In total, Russia carried out 17 airstrikes with drones or missiles in May in an attempt to dent Ukrainian fighting spirit after more than 15 months of war. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that US-made Patriot anti-missile defense systems achieve almost 100% interception rate.
