Disappointed with LPV and Stability becoming closer, prominent leader leaves LPV faction

One of the leaders of Honour to Serve Riga political party Olegs Burovs, who was elected to the 14th Saeima from Latvia in First Place political party, has decided to leave the faction and continue working as an independent deputy.
“I am announcing that as of today I am ceasing my work as a faction Saeima deputy. From now on I will continue working as an independent deputy of the parliament,” Burovs said in an interview to LTV programme Rīta panorāma.

He said he informed LPV leader Ainārs Šlesers of his decision last week.

He made this decision because LPV is becoming too close to For Stability Party, which he finds to be destructive and wrong.
“I do not associate this decision with emotions. This is my own and my colleagues’ opinion. In October 2022 we decided to run in elections together with Ainārs Šlesers in Saeima elections, because there are certain successes associated with him,” he said.

“Their slogan – Let’s unite the Latvian people – I found informal, it was acceptable.

Unfortunately, right now this is populism. We cannot be populists in any municipal party. We are pragmatic, economical and the closest to the people,” Burovs continued.
