Danish police will strengthen border control after recent protests involving Quran burning have affected the security situation in the country, writes Reuters.
Sweden also made a similar decision at the beginning of the week. Several copies of the Muslim holy book have been burned in recent months in anti-Islamic protests. This has caused a wave of anger in the Islamic part of the world and also led to official calls to the Scandinavians to ban such actions.
Denmark and Sweden have replied that the burning of the Quran is not supported, however,
taking into account the legislation that protects freedom of speech and expression, it cannot be denied either.
The Danish Justice Ministry said in a statement: “The authorities have concluded that it is now necessary to pay increased attention to persons entering Denmark to respond to certain and current threats.” Initially, increased border control is planned until the 10th of August.
Muslims consider the Quran the word of Allah in the most literal sense, and real or imagined desecration of the holy book regularly provokes protests and anger from Muslims.
