Day 29 of war in Ukraine: Month of aggression and resistance, Russian losses’ estimate, Zelensky calls for peace rallies

On Thursday, March 24, a month has passed since Russia launched its current phase of military aggression against Ukraine. Ukrainian Armed Forces have estimated the loses suffered by the invaders, while the loss of military personnel has been significant as well. President Volodymyr Zelensky called on people around the world to assemble in rallies in support of peace and Ukraine, Ukrainian public media platform Ukrinform and UK’s BBC report.
From February 24 to March 23, the Russian miliary has, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, lost over 15 700 troops. As to the losses of military equipment Kyiv claimed that Russia has lost:
530 main battle tanks,
1,597 armoured combat vehicles,
280 artillery units,
82 multiple rocket systems,
47 air defence systems,
108 warplanes,
124 helicopters,
1,033 military vehicles,
4 vessels,
72 fuel tank trucks,
50 operational and tactical-level drones, and
16 units of special equipment.
The Russian Defence Ministry has admitted that 498 of Russian soldiers have been killed and 1 597 wounded in action.
The Ukrainian government has admitted that approximately 1 300 of its soldiers and voluntary troops have been killed since February 24. The US government has estimated this number from 2,000 to 4,000 on March 9.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has stated that a Russian landing ship has been destroyed by in Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Berdiansk.
Rally for peace, Zelenskyy invites
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked in his latest video address for people all over the world to take to the streets on Thursday to show their support for Ukraine.
«Come from your offices, your homes, your schools and universities, come in the name of peace, come with Ukrainian symbols to support Ukraine, to support freedom, to support life,» the Ukrainian President.
