CSP reports more men than women among unemployed people in Latvia

In March 2022, the actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 7.4 %, and compared to February it has decreased by 0.2 percentage points.
The female unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 6.9 % in March, while the males unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 7.9 %, according to data of the Labour Force Survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau.
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency was 6.8 % and has not changed since February.

Compared to March last year, the actual unemployment rate decreased by 0.7 percentage points and the registered unemployment rate – by 1.4 percentage points.

In March 2022, there were 68.8 thousand unemployed persons (31.8 thousand females and 37.0 thousand males) in Latvia, which is 1.4 thousand fewer than in February, and 5.9 thousand fewer than in the same period last year. The number of unemployed males decreased by 0.9 thousand during the month, while the number of unemployed females– by 0.5 thousand.
