Croatian President: Crimea will never be Ukraine again

Croatian President Zoran Milanovic has announced that the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, will never be a part of Ukraine again, writes Reuters.
This remark was made when the Croatian president explained Zagreb’s objections to military aid to Ukraine.
Milanovic is known to be a vocal critic of European politics and has said he does not want his country, the European Union’s newest member, to face the potentially catastrophic consequences of the 11-month-old war in Ukraine. While visiting the army barracks in Petrin, he told the media that Western support for Ukraine is immoral, and added that the supply of German tanks to Ukraine will only push Russia closer to China. Milanovich said:

«It is clear that Crimea will never again be part of Ukraine.»

After an illegal referendum in 2014, Russia announced that Crimea is part of Russian territory, but most of the world’s countries have not recognized this, and Ukrainians have vowed to return Crimea to their country.
Milanovic has criticized Western countries for applying double standards in international politics, stating that Russia will use the example of Kosovo to justify the seizure of Ukrainian territories. The Croatian president said that Kosovo was recognized against Serbia’s opinion. He warned that he does not question the independence of Kosovo, but said that he pointed to the double standards of the West.
Since the taking of office Milanovic, who comes from the Social Democratic Party, has taken a position contrary to the opinion of the European Union and is thus politically close to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik.
