P. Stradins Clinical University Hospital board member Agra Ločmele reports that on Wednesday, the 22nd of March, an agreement was reached with Velve LLC on the continuation of construction of the hospital’s addition.
As previously reported, on the 14th of March the government reviewed a report from the Ministry of Health about the progress with construction of Stradins Hospital’s A building and decided to extend the term for the construction project. The government also discussed the price going up. This decision was accompanied by the PM loudly voicing his dissatisfaction with the situation.
Ločmele said the agreement provides for the increase of the contract’s costs by 14% and the extension of the construction term until the 1st of June 2024. The finished building is planned to be commissioned by the 1st of March 2024.
The increase of costs is estimated at EUR 20 671 438.54 with VAT.
Considering that the reserved amount for this contract is EUR 3 659 628 with VAT, the new price is increased by EUR 16 011 809 with VAT, explains Ločmele.
She stressed that continuation of the second stage of A building is critically important for the hospital’s development and continued provision of services to patients.
The hospital’s Emergency Medical Centre, Women’s and Child Health Clinic, Neurology Clinic, Oral, Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic are anxiously waiting for the opening of the hospital’s new addition.
