In ten months of 2021 a total of 1.516 billion cigarettes were exported from Latvia to other countries, which is 183.203 million cigarettes or 10.8% less when compared to ten months of 2020, according to data compiled by the State Revenue Service (VID).
61.234 million cigars and cigarillos were exported to other countries last year. This is 32.1% more when compared to ten months of 2020. Additionally in ten months of 2021 a total of 17 748 kg of smoking tobacco was exported from Latvia, which is 74% more when compared to ten months of 2020.
In ten months of 2021 a total of 12 797 kg of heated tobacco was exported from Latvia to other countries, which is an 88.8% increase when compared to ten months of 2020.
In ten months of 2021 a total of 132 714 kg of tobacco leaves was exported from Latvia, which is 13.3% more when compared with ten months of 2020.
Most of the exported tobacco products were exported to other EU member states – 1.454 billion cigarettes, 58.993 million cigars and cigarillos, 11 772 kg of smoking tobacco, 12 283 kg of heated tobacco and 132 714 kg of tobacco leaves.
In 2020 a total of 1.803 billion of cigarettes were released in Latvia, which is 98.804 million cigarettes or 5.2% less when compared to 2019.
30.194 million cigars and cigarillos were released for consumption in Latvia in 2020, which is 2.6% more when compared to 2019. The volume of smoking tobacco increased 19.6% in 2020 – a total of 93 370 kg of smoking tobacco was released for consumption in Latvia.
72 355 kg of heated tobacco, which is 2.2 times more when compared to 2019, was released for consumption in Latvia in 2020.
