Three children were injured when a bus overturned in Smiltene municipality on Monday morning, LETA learned from the Vidzeme Regional Office of the State Police.
Shortly before 10 a.m., a bus in Launkalne parish on the Vidzeme highway veered off the road and overturned for reasons that are currently unknown.
According to initial information, the bus was on its way from Riga to Smiltene to take children to a camp. In total,
the vehicle was carrying the driver and 45 passengers – 43 children and two adults.
Three children were injured in the accident and were taken to a medical facility from the scene.
An administrative process has been initiated into the incident, during which the circumstances of the incident will be clarified.
According to initial information, the bus driver was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
