Cert.lv: information about allegedly leaked user data from manabalss.lv is fabricated

The information published on Telegram social network about the alleged leak of personal data of users of manabalss.lv is fabricated, according to the statement from information technology security incident prevention institution Cert.lv.
Cert.lv reports that in cooperation with manabalss.lv an inspection was performed following the publication of information on Telegram social network account of pro-Russian “hacktivists” about an alleged leak of personal data of users of manabalss.lv. The conclusion is that the information reported by Telegram channels was fabricated.

Names were taken from internet search results to prepare fake news and undermine trust in manabalss.lv project, says Cert.lv.

Cert.lv representatives also say there is no reason for concern. Manabalss.lv does not reveal the names of the people who vote, so the hackers’ attack was unsuccessful.
Cert.lv is part of the University of Latvia Institute of Mathematics and Informatics. Its objective is to maintain a unified display of the activities taking place in the electronic information space, to provide support in the prevention of information technology security incidents or to coordinate their prevention in the IP address areas of Latvia and in the domain name zone “.lv”.
