On Tuesday, the 30th of January, black smoke rose over the so-called Cat House in Old Riga. Fire fighters are at the scene, LETA reports.
According to eyewitness accounts, employees of businesses operating from the Cat House were successfully evacuated.
At 12:53 (local time) the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received information that smoke was seen coming from a five-storey building on Meistaru Street, as LETA was told by VUGD.
Upon arriving at the scene, fire fighters found out there was a fire in the building. Due to the complexity of the planning and the spread of the flames, around 30 fire fighters, eight fire trucks and two ladder trucks were called in to assist.
VUGD warns that pedestrian and other road traffic is limited in the area.
