The now former Latvian Minister of Education and Science Anda Čakša has returned to working in the Saeima, as she confirmed in a conversation with LTV programme Rīta Panorāma. She also said she is interested in working as the head of the parliament’s Budget and Finance Committee, as reported by lsm.lv.
When Anda Čakša became a minister and left he Saeima, Jānis Reirs was appointed as her replacement in the parliament. Until now he has served as the head of the Saeima Budget and Finance Committee. With Čakša back in the Saeima, Reirs will lose his “soft mandate”, as reported by the public media.
“It is very important for me to continue the tasks I have started. For example, there is “Programma skolā”, which is in a tight spot now due to lack of financing. Yes, I will go back to the Saeima. I will work in the Finance and Budget Committee, as it’s head, I believe. This will help achieve financing goals for the programme,” Čakša said in her interview.
