In the UK, Prime Minister Boris Johnson faces serious calls for resignation. The leader of the ruling Conservative Party has admitted attending a garden party together with dozens of colleagues during UK’s first strict lockdown declared by his own government, British news portal The Guardian reports.

After the Prime Minister’s statement, one of the Conservative Party’s most senior members of parliament, William Wragg, and Douglas Ross, the leader of the party in Scotland, publicly called for Johnson to resign. Ross stated that Johnson’s position had become untenable.
The Guardian reports that also on Wednesday night, UK’s Minister of State for Immigration Caroline Nokes added her voice to those calling for the Johnson’s resignation from within the Conservative Party. Speaking to ITV, Nokes evaluated that Johnson was in an «impossible position», adding: «He either goes now, or he goes in three years’ time at a general election, and it’s up to the party to decide which way around that’s going to be. I know my thoughts are that he’s damaging us now.»
