The food delivery platform Bolt Food will offer caterers stickers for sealing food packages and will check the hygiene of couriers and the condition of delivery bags to ensure the safety of the food delivered, the company’s representatives promise.
According to Bold Food, a portion of its activities will be monitored by the Food and Veterinary Service (PVD).
To ensure the ordered food is delivered to the client untouched, Bold Food will provide its partners free stickers to seal food packaging. After the testing period, catering companies will be able to purchase stickers or seal packaging, representatives say.
To promote compliance with hygiene requirements among couriers, the company plans to perform regular checks are catering companies to make sure couriers comply with requirements and their bags are clean and safe.
Bold Food manager in Latvia Kristaps Purvinskis says each partner courier that registers with the platform is required to keep in mind the company rules, as well as prove he or she has sufficient knowledge of hygiene requirements listed in the rules.
Purvinskis points out that the company regularly reviews all reviews and comments made by customers, caterers and social media users about couriers to ensure quality, and if any of them reports a violation, including non-compliance with hygiene requirements, checks are carried out.
“In practice, however, violations are rare, and the partner courier may receive a reprimand or be removed from the platform altogether depending on the severity of the violation,” says Purvinskis.
In the beginning of October, Minister of Agriculture Armands Krauze asked PVD to focus on attention and come up with proposals to better protect consumers that receive services from food delivery services.
