Autumn has arrived – prolonged rain and only +10°C expected in Latvia

On Monday, skies will be mostly cloudy, with occasional clear spells during the day, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

During the night, rain is expected at times mainly in western and central regions, with showers and isolated thunderstorms possible in Kurzeme. In the morning, the rain will subside, and the rest of the day will pass without significant precipitation. A light to moderate south to southwesterly wind will blow, with gusts reaching 15–17 m/s along the coast during the night, turning southerly to southeasterly during the day. Air temperature will drop to +6…+10°C at night and rise only to +11…+14°C during the day.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather will remain mostly cloudy, with occasional sunny intervals. Light rain is expected at times on Tuesday, but from Wednesday morning a large area of precipitation will move in from the west — bringing rain to the western and central regions, while in the east rainfall is expected on Thursday.

According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, on Friday another rain zone will approach from the west, bringing rainfall across the entire country and stronger winds. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, temperatures will fall to +3…+8°C, while in coastal areas and parts of Kurzeme it will be milder — around +8…+12°C. On Thursday and Friday nights, under cloud cover, temperatures will not drop below +7…+12°C. Daytime highs will range from +12°C to +15°C.

During the weekend, rain clouds will again be frequent, bringing heavier showers along the coast. Winds will shift to the west and northwest, strengthening along the shoreline with gusts up to 15–16 m/s. The air will turn cooler, with nighttime temperatures falling to +4…+9°C and daytime highs rising only slightly above +10°C in some areas.
