In August 2022 inflation in Latvia was higher than the average inflation in the European Union and Eurozone, according to data published by Eurostat on Friday, 16 September.
Annual inflation in Latvia was 21.4% in August.
Inflation was higher in Estonia (25.2%) and lower in Lithuania (21.1%).
In August, when compared to August 2021, inflation was registered in all EU member states.
The average annual inflation was 10.1% in the EU and 9.1% in Eurozone.
When compared to July, consumer prices in the EU increased by 0.7% and in Eurozone – by 0.6% in August.
In Latvia consumer prices in August, when compared to July, increased by 0.4% (0.6% in Lithuania and 2.3% in Estonia).
Consumer prices increased in 21 EU member states when compared to last month.
Inflation was the highest in Hungary (+3.7%). Deflation, on the other hand, was registered in Austria, Slovenia and Finland (-0.1% in all three), as well as Greece and Portugal (-0.2% in both). In Denmark consumer prices remained unchanged.
