Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly threatened Latvia on Monday, the 4th of December. The reason for Putin’s threat, as he put it, was “pressure on the Russian-speaking population”, reports RBC-Ukraine.
“I don’t think that happiness will come to those who does such policies. I don’t know how many there are now, but in Latvia, I think there were 40% of Russian-speaking people, probably, and now there are not so many,” claimed Putin.
By “such policies” Putin means the so-called Russophobia that he believes exists in Latvia.
“If they pursue such a policy against people who want to live in that country, to work there, to do good for that country, and treat them so piggishly, then, in the end, they will face such piggish treatment in their own country,” says Putin.
Putin threatening Latvia that they will be treated “with the same dirt-like attitude”.

BNN already reported that new amendments states that Russian Federation citizens have to submit documents to PMLP to request EU permanent resident status and in April this year reported that Notification letters on law amendments sent to more than 20 000 Russian citizens in Latvia and later in October Latvian authorities warn 3 255 Russian citizens they will have to leave the country.
Previously, Putin used the alleged “oppression of Russian speakers in Ukraine” as a pretext for aggression, thus justifying the invasion. This tactic has raised concerns about a possible attack on NATO, but analysts believe that Putin would need up to six years to rebuild the army for such an attack.
Although NATO’s Lieutenant General Jürgen-Joachim von Sandrart said on Monday that Russia is rebuilding its military capabilities and preparing for a possible confrontation with the North Atlantic alliance, reports RBC.
