Latvian national airline airBaltic reports that it increased its market share at the airline’s home base – Riga International Airport – to 57%.
That is an increase of nine percent, compared to the 48% market share at this airport in the same period last year.
“With the biggest number of routes offered in the summer so far, we observe a gradual increase in passenger demand every month. That is reflected accordingly in the number of passengers we serve.
We have transported 437,000 passengers in the last month
or 53% more than in this period last year, and we expect that a similar trend with a gradual increase in passenger demand will continue throughout the summer,” airBaltic President Martins Gauss is proud of in a media release.
As previously reported, this summer airBaltic has launched an “unprecedented number” of direct flights, including to ten destinations from Riga: to Baku (Azerbaijan), Belgrade (Serbia), Bilbao (Spain), Bucharest (Romania), Burgas (Bulgaria), Hannover (Germany), Istanbul (Turkey), Porto (Portugal), Tivat (Montenegro) and Yerevan (Armenia). airBaltic provides flights to more than 70 destinations from Rīga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and Tampere.
