While at the end of last week there was sunshine and air temperature above 0° C and weather did not indicate there is winter about, this week it will gradually get colder. Air temperature in the second half of the week will drop to -10° C… -15° C.
The beginning of the week will be rich in precipitation. However, it will calm down in the coming days. The wind will calm down as well, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Although the sun will become clear at times in the second week of February, there will still be plenty of clouds in the sky. On Monday, the 5th of February, there will be snow and wet snow in many parts of Latvia. At times snowing will be intense. On Tuesday snowing is expected to be local. Western and north-western wind, which will reach a speed of 15-17 m/sec along the coast, will gradually calm down on Tuesday.
On Monday and Tuesday minimal air temperature at night will stay at 0° C… -5° C, whereas daytime air temperature will be at -3° C… +3° C.
In the middle of the week colder masses of air will flow to the country. Air temperature will drop below 0° C at night and during the day. On the night to Friday, the 9th of February, air temperature may drop as far as -15° C… -19° C. There will be less precipitation and it will snow only in certain areas in Latvia. Wind speed will go up closer to the end of the week.
Weather will remain cold on the weekend and it will snow in many parts of Latvia.
