On Wednesday, the sky will be cloudy, with the sun breaking through only in some areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Rain is expected from time to time across most of the country. With light winds blowing, fog will form in some areas during the night and early morning, reducing visibility. Overnight into Wednesday, temperatures will drop to between 0°C and +5°C, along the coast to +6°C…+8°C, while during the day they will rise to +7°C…+11°C — slightly warmer in the western regions.
On Thursday and Friday, the weather will remain mostly cloudy, though skies will occasionally clear. Rain will still be expected in most parts of the country. During the night to Thursday and in the early morning, fog will again form in some areas, making visibility poor. A light to moderate westerly wind will blow. On Thursday night, temperatures will fall to +4°C…+7°C, along the coast to +7°C…+10°C, and during the day the air will warm to +9°C…+13°C.
Friday will be a few degrees cooler.
During the weekend, a colder air mass will move into Latvia, and the temperature at night in some places will drop close to 0°C, while in parts of the east it may fall to –1°C to –2°C. As a result, wet snowflakes may appear in some regions, although no snow cover is expected to form on the ground. Toward the end of the week, the amount of precipitation will decrease — with occasional rain mainly in the eastern and central regions.
At the beginning of next week, the weather will remain similar, with rain clouds appearing only in some places. Across most of the country, nighttime temperatures will drop to +2°C…+7°C, though the coastal areas will be slightly warmer, while in the eastern regions temperatures may fall to –1°C…+2°C. During the day, the thermometer will rise slightly above +10°C.
