Transition to winter time in Latvia will take place on 30 October. Clock hands are to be switched one hour back on the night from Saturday, 29 October, to Sunday, 30 October.
According to the Ministry of Economics, the European Union has yet to formulate a united opinion in regards to time switch twice a year. The previous practice remains in place – summer time in Latvia is in force from the last Sunday of March until the last Sunday of October.
The switch to summer time in Latvia will happen on 26 March and will remain in force until 29 October.
The switch to summer time in Latvia is carried out the following way: on the last Sunday of March clock hands are to be turned one hour forward, whereas the switch to winter time takes place on the last Sunday of October – clock hands are to be turned one hour back.
The practice of the switch to summer time was introduced in Latvia for the first time in 1981.
