Latvian political party For Stability! claims that there was a «typing error» with information provided to the Central Election Commission (CVK) about one of their 14th Saeima candidates – Gloira Grevcova.
According to the party, there was a «typing error» made in the Education section of the candidate’s form.
For Stability! office representatives plan to contact CVK in order to add the necessary corrections. The party says that corrections are necessary and they are not an obstacle to a person’s rights to run in Saeima elections as a candidate and take posts.
For Stability! also notes that the part has turned to State Police with an application regarding defamation.
As previously reported, Latvian State Police commenced criminal proceedings over Grevcova’s possible lying to CVK.
State Police press-representative Simona Grāvīte affirmed that police have commenced analysing available information regarding the candidate’s possible lies.
Police have a reason to believe there may have been a crime committed. This is why the decision was made to commence criminal proceedings.
Grāvīte told LETA that police will examine all of the information Grevcova had provided to CVK during the pre-election campaign.
Grevcova claimed on TikTok that the information about her was injected into the media intentionally in order to distract residents from the «real problems» and that this way «Saeima has voted in favour of LGBT propaganda in schools».
«As long as politicians in power spread lies about me, LGBT propaganda has officially started in schools,» she said, adding that everyone must protect their children from «them».
In her video posted on the social media, Grevcova did not clarify if she had worked as a lumber loader. All she said is: «While our snakes continue talking about me and how shameful and bad it is to work as a lumber loader for a Saeima deputy to be, they are also trying to diver attention away from the events they themselves have put into motion».
If police find Grevcova did break the law, the prosecution office will be asked to present charges. If the prosecution office finds justifiable reasons for that, the Saeima will be asked to permit criminal procedures. But even if the parliament agrees, Grevcova will still be able to continue working in the Saeima and continue receiving wages.
After 14th Saeima elections information started appearing in the public space that a candidate from the political party For Stability! had lied about her previous job and had submitted false information to CVK during the pre-election period, as reported by TV3 News.
Grevcova also submitted false information to CVK about the education she received from Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LSPA),
according to LSPA public relations head Ilze Āķe-Vīksne.
Grevcova told CVK that in 2013 she graduated from LSPA with higher education in teaching. However, when commenting on this information, Āķe-Vīksne said it is not available in LSPA archive.
According to her, no person with that name is available in LSPA Student Information System.
Grevcova’s name cannot be found among the graduates or students of the academy, said the LSPA representative.
Grevcova was elected to the 14th Saeima from For Stability! political party. She is more well-known for activities on TikTok social network.
For Stability! received 11 seats in the 14th Saeima.
