New Unity to meet with three potential coalition partners again

Following the president’s invitation, New Unity political party will continue in-depth government formation talks this week, as confirmed by the party.
As previously reported, on Monday, 10 October, after meeting with New Unity’s leader Krišjānis Kariņš, Latvia’s President Egils Levits asked him to continue talks with potential coalition partners.
According to Kariņš,

in the second phase of political consultations the priority is finding common ground on the most important tasks and principles that will become the foundation of the next government’s plan so that it is able to work in a stable manner for the entire term of the 14th Saeima.

«New Unity considers Latvia’s economic development, domestic and external security, education reform and rule of law in a broad sense – from improvement of democracy to independence of courts of law and good management principles as priorities for the next government,» says Latvia’s PM.
