King Charles III makes his first visit to Parliament as monarch

King Charles III and Camilla (Camilla), the queen consort, on Monday, September 12, arrived at the Parliament to listen to condolences of the members of parliament (MPs), as reported by British broadcaster BBC.
The King said he is deeply grateful for the addresses of condolences from MPs and peers which very touchingly encompassed what the Queen «meant to us all».
He makes reference to Shakespeare’s Henry VIII, where Elizabeth I is described as «a pattern to all princes living».
He says he cannot help but feel the weight of history, which surrounds those in Westminster Hall and «reminds us of vital Parliamentary traditions, to which MPs and peers dedicate themselves».

«Parliament is the living and breathing instrument of our democracy,» the king said.

After visiting Westminster Abbey, King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen Consort, left for Edinburgh, where the Queen’s coffin has been resting since Sunday, 1 September.
In Edinburgh at Palace of Holyroodhouse at 1pm (local time) the Ceremony of the Keys started, during which King Charles III was given the ceremonial keys to the city of Edinburgh.
After the ceremony at 2.25 pm (local time) the king and other Royal Family members will walk behind the Queen’s coffin as it is taken along the Royal Mile to St Giles’ Cathedral.
Later a service will take place at St. Giles’ Cathedral celebrating the life of the Queen and her connection to Scotland.
The Queen will lie at rest at St Giles’ Cathedral for 24 hours, with members of the public able to pay their respects
The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will be held on Monday, 19 September, at Westminster Abbey at 11am (local time).
