With aid from the European Union Cohesion Fund Daugavpils satiksme JSC purchased 20 Scania Citywide buses powered by natural gas. The purchase cost EUR 11.842 million, as confirmed by Scania Baltics representatives.
The purchase of new buses was carried out as part of the EU Cohesion Fund’s Environment Friendly Buses Procurement for Daugavpils.
This project will help reduce air pollution in the city and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as ensure more efficient use of energy resources, according to Scania Latvia representatives.
The project’s implementation term is 31 December 2023.
The project’s costs are estimated at EUR 11 842 188, of which eligible costs are estimated at EUR 11 764 796. Co-financing from the Cohesion Fund is EUR 10 million.
Repairs of buses will be done by Daugavpils-based Scania Latvia service centre.
Last year Scania Baltic signed a contract with Daugavpils satiksme for the supply of 20 new environment-friendly Scania buses powered by liquefied natural gas. The first bus was supplied at the end of June 2022.
Daugavpils satiksme was registered in 1991 with base capital of EUR 2.936 million, according to information from Firmas.lv. Last year the company’s turnover was EUR 3.432 million and profits – EUR 4 250.
Scania Latvia was registered in 1993 with base capital of EUR 406 811. Last year the company’s turnover was EUR 65.63 million and profits – EUR 4.1 million.
The company’s sole owner is Sweden-based Scania CV Aktiebolag.
