On Monday, 1 August, a cyclone will pass through Latvia from the south, bringing cloudy and rainy weather. Central and eastern regions will experience heavy rain. There is also the possibility of thunderstorms.
By the middle of the week precipitation will remain only in some regions. Daytime air temperature will reach +30° C at times.
At the end of the week a precipitation zone will pass through the country and air temperature will drop, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On the night to Monday a cyclone approached Latvia from the south. The cyclone will continue moving north. Weather will be cloudy and rainy in many parts of the country. In central and eastern regions of Latvia rainfall will be strong, at times very strong in the morning. In some regions there is a possibility of thunderstorms. During the day the cyclone will continue moving across Latvia – weather will remain cloudy. Only in the afternoon the sky will become clear in western regions.
It will continue raining in many parts of the country, especially in eastern parts of the country. Strong thunderstorms are also expected in the afternoon. The wind will be slow to moderate and will blow from the east. Around the afternoon wind speed in Kurzeme will be strong. At night air temperature will drop to +13° C… +17° C, whereas daytime air temperature will stay at +17° C… +22° C.
Tuesday will be cloudy with moments of clear sky. The cyclone will have passed through Latvia by then, and precipitation will calm down. The wind will blow from the west. Minimal air temperature at night will be +13° C… +18° C and during the day air temperature will reach +19° C… +24° C.
On Wednesday precipitation is expected in eastern regions and only at night. Wind speed will be slow. In most of the country the night will be cold. Air temperature will drop to +10° C… +14° C (+13° C… +16° C along the coast). Daytime air temperature will reach +21° C… +26° C.
On Thursday an anticyclone will approach the country from the east. Weather will remain the same on Friday. Weather will be mostly dry these two days. Only Kurzeme will experience some rain. The wind will blow from the south and south-east. At night air temperature will be at +15° C… +20° C (+10° C… +14° C in eastern parts of the country). Daytime air temperature will reach +24° C… +29° C.
According to current forecasts, on Friday evening colder masses of air will reach Latvia form the west, bringing a precipitation zone. Saturday will be rainy across the country. At the end of the week daytime air temperature will reach +19° C… +24° C.
