Lithuanian Seimas discusses decriminalisation of cannabis

On Tuesday, 28 June, Lithuania’s Seimas voted in favour of passing amendments to decriminalise storage of small amounts of cannabis, as reported by Lithuanian public media LRT.
The suggested amendments provide for punishing storage of small amounts of cannabis, including its oil, resins or extracts with a warning or a fine of EUR 30 to EUR 250. Currently storage of cannabis is a criminal offence.
70 Seimas deputies voted in favour, 46 voted against and ten abstained in the vote. Amendments will now be passed to committees of the Seimas for discussions.
Persons who voluntarily hand over narcotics to authorities may be relieved of administrative liability.
