Weather forecast for Jāņi festival – will it rain?

In the coming days there will be precipitation in Latvia. However, from Wednesday, 22 June, weather will start to improve. Meteorologists predict warmer and drier weather for the upcoming midsummer holiday, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Monday’s weather will be cloudy with moments of clear sky. Wind speed will be slow and air temperature may reach +16° C… +21° C.
A new cyclone will approach Latvia from the south-east for midsummer. Weather will be cloudy and precipitation is expected mostly in eastern parts of the country. Other regions may experience some precipitation as well. The wind will blow from the north and will be slow to moderate. In eastern parts of Latvia it will be strong. Maximum air temperature will be between +15° C… +20° C. On midsummer night air temperature will be +19° C… +13° C.
On Wednesday atmospheric pressure will increase and the day will pass without major precipitation. Only south-eastern regions may experience some rain. The wind will blow from the north-west and west. Air temperature at night will be +9° C… +13° C, whereas daytime air temperature will reach +18° C… +23° C.

The weather will be warm on the holiday, and there is a high probability it will also be dry.

On Ligo day cloudy weather is expected in morning hours. However, clouds will disperse during the course of the day and the sun will shine. Jāņi night will be clear and dry. Air temperature in most of the country will reach +22° C… +26° C during the day and drop to +12° C… +16° C at night.
Of the last 56 Jāņi nights eight were clear in Latvia. The last two dry Jāņi nights were in 2019 and 2020.
