Riga City Council has plans to entrust management of paid parking locations in Riga to Rīgas Satiksme for one more year, according to the legislative draft approved by members of the city council’s Transport Department.
Initially it was planned to agree on a six-month contract, but then a proposal was voiced to extend it to a year. Deputies supported this proposal.
The legislative draft in question allows for letting Rīgas Satiksme equip, maintain and collect fees from residents for using paid parking lots, as well as monitor compliance with paid parking rules.
The final decision will need to be made by Riga City Council.
The company is in charge of maintenance of approximately 6 000 parking locations in Riga. This includes the underground parking lot near Riga Congress Centre.
In 2020 Rīgas Satiksme’s turnover was EUR 173.503 million, which is 9.2% less when compared to the year prior. The company’s profits increased by 26.9%, reaching EUR 980 886.
