Video: Estonia voices support to Ukraine with Baltic song festival power

In the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds, a joint choir with several thousand singers has gathered to sing a Ukrainian song and call for Ukraine donations with the unique power and unity that is characteristic to the Baltic song festival tradition.
Estonian public broadcaster ERR reports that a new choral version of the Ukrainian folk song Oi u luzi chervona kalyna (Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow) was sung and filmed over the weekend to be aired on ETV on Monday, May 23.

Among registered singers, there were more than 100 choirs and individual singers from across Estonia, including Hiiu, Ida-Viru, Järva, Lääne-Viru, Lääne, Rapla, Saare, Tartu and Viljandi counties. Choirs and singers from the US, UK, Poland, Finland and Sweden also joined.
The author of the choral version of Oi u luzi chervona kalyna, is composer Jonas Tarm. «A lot of musicians the world over have performed their own versions of Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow by now, as its message is one of unity and hope,» Tarm noted. The project’s organisers called for people in Estonia to donate money to MTÜ Slava Ukraini.
