On Thursday, 19 May, the Saeima supported the government’s decision to extend the state of emergency on the Latvian-Belarusian border.
The approved changes provide for extending the state of emergency in Ludza, Krāslava, Augšdaugava, as well as Daugavpils until 10 August 2022, BNN was told by Saeima’s press-service.
Originally the state of emergency on the Latvian-Belarusian border was declared due to the rapid increase of illegal border-crossing attempts, as well as a measure to prevent the same situation that was observed on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border.
