In the first half of the week weather in Latvia will remain calm – slow wind, warm daytime weather, no rain. At the end of the week, however, meteorologists expect rain, strong wind and slightly colder weather in general.
On Monday, 9 May, weather in Latvia will be dictated by an anticyclone with a centre above the Baltic Sea.
Clouds will cover the sky only partially and weather in general will be dry. Only eastern territories are expected to have increased amounts of clouds in the sky. At night the wind will blow from the north-west and north.
On Tuesday, 10 May, the anticyclone will move further south-east and start getting weaker. Atmospheric pressure will gradually decrease. Weather will remain similar to Monday – clear sky at night and slow wind, increased clouds during the day and stronger wind. At night air temperature in most of Latvia will be 0° C… -2° C. Along the coast and some areas of Latgale minimal air temperature will be at +1° C… +5° C.
On Wednesday, 11 May, weather will be influenced by the cyclone active above the Scandinavian peninsula – the sky will become cloudy. An atmospheric front will approach Latvia from the north-west, which will bring short-term rain to Latvia in the second half of the night. The wind will blow from the south and south-west. Wind speed will reach 15 m/sec at times. At night air temperature is expected to reach +6° C… +11° C. In Latvia’s sought-west regions daytime air temperature will come close to +20° C (+11° C.. +14° C along the coast).
The second half of the week will be windy – wind speed expected to reach 15-18 m/sec.
No precipitation is expected in most of the country, except eastern parts, where some rain is expected. Air temperature during the day will not exceed +10° C… +16° C, whereas at night air temperature will drop to +5° C… +9° C.
