On Tuesday, April 26, air strikes hit the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia after Ukrainian Armed Forces took control of five villages in the Kherson region. A Garman weapons maker sought government approval for preparing 88 tanks for Ukraine. UN Secretary General is on a visit to Moscow after it spoke of a potential world war, Ukrainian public broadcaster Ukrinform, British public broadcaster BBC and Belarusian Nexta TV report.
In the morning, as a result of morning rocket attacks on Zaporizhzhia city, one person was killed, another was injured, and the infrastructure of a business was damaged.
The press service of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported on Telegram, according to Ukrinform. «In the morning, two Russian guided missiles hit the territory of one of the city’s enterprises. The third missile exploded in the air. The company’s infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed. All relevant services are working on the site,» the administration stated.
On Tuesday morning, two Russian cruise missiles had been spotted flying at low altitude over the Zaporizhzhia NPP in the direction of the city of Zaporizhzhia.
Five villages liberated
Over the past 24 hours to Tuesday morning, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated five villages in the southern Kherson region, forcing the Russian forces to retreat to the settlement of Chornobaivka, near Kherson.
Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine started on February 24, the Ukrainian army has liberated more than a thousand settlements from Russian invaders, but the number of towns and villages occupied since then by the invaders is still greater.

Leopard tanks
German weapons’ maker Rheinmetall has officially requested approval from the government to supply Ukraine with 88 Leopard 1A5 tanks, Die Welt reported as quoted by Nexta TV.
They would not be coming instantly, however, as the first 22 tanks could be supplied within a few weeks, and the rest – before the end of the year.
Guterres in Moscow to seek peace
United Nations’ Secretary General Antonio Guterres is in Moscow for meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Vladimir Putin. Negotiations are expected to focus on humanitarian corridors out of the besieged port city of Mariupol. On Monday, April 25, Russia’s first deputy envoy to the UN, Dmitry Polyanski, said he saw no point in a ceasefire in Ukraine, while Lavrov has warned the risk of a World War III was serious and criticised Kyiv’s approach to floundering peace talks.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba commented on Twitter that Lavrov was trying to «scare the world off» from supporting the country.
Zelenskyy seeks international support for Ukrainian economy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for the international community to support the Ukrainian economy. In response, the British government announced that it had dropped tariffs on all goods from Ukraine.
