Polish and Baltic presidents to meet with Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy

On Wednesday, 13 April, Polish and Baltic presidents will meet with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenksyy, as confirmed by Latvian President Egils Levits’ chancellery.
Polish and Baltic presidents will arrive in Kyiv to meet with their Ukrainian colleague.
The chancellery did not provide more information about this meeting.
Former Latvian President Valdis Zatlers told TV3 programme 900 seconds on Wednesday morning that the sudden visit of presidents to Kyiv is related to security consideration.
«We are dealing with a very nasty opponent. We can expect different provocations and diversions,» said Zatlers, adding that announcing visits at the last moment is normal.
According to him, if people do not protect themselves and their president, nothing good will come of it.
«But this visit of leaders of Russia’s neighbouring countries to Kyiv is very important. It is a signal that we are not afraid, that we stand with Ukraine. This can be seen analogous with the visit of Polish and Baltic presidents to Georgia, which basically caused a precedent in the war,» claims the former president.
This Tuesday Baltic presidents met with their Polish colleague in the city of Žešov to discuss forms of assistance for Ukraine, according to Levits’ entry on Twitter.
Presidents met and discussed how the region can support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. «Each of us had something to offer,» said Levits.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda mentioned on Twitter after the meeting that it is necessary to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank, support Ukraine’s joining of the European Union, as well as impose even tighter sanctions against Russia. ‘Unity is our strength,’ he wrote.
Russian army invaded Ukraine on 24 February. Since then active military conflict has continued in the country – reports keep coming in about Russian forces killing troops and civilians.
