European Union plans to include Russian President Vladimir Putin’s daughters in the new package of sanctions, according to the black list accessed by AFP and which is confirmed by multiple diplomats.
Officially Putin and his ex-wife have two daughters – Maria and Yekaterina. However, for years Putin has kept information about them hidden.
According to information found out by the media and investigators, their full names are Maria Vorontsova and Yekaterina Tihonova.
On Wednesday, 6 April, the US imposed sanctions on them. In the statement of the White House they are mentioned as Maria Putina and Yekaterina Tihonova.
As reported by diplomats, EU member states hope to approve a new package of sanctions for Russia later this week.
The package of sanctions cover the ban on imports of Russian coal and the prohibition for Russian ships to enter European sea ports.
European Commission’s composed black list project includes 217 private persons and 18 legal persons.
Financial Times wrote on Wednesday that aside from Putin’s daughters it is planned to imposed sanctions on director general of Surgutneftgaz Vladimir Bogdanov, Nafta Moscow owner Suleiman Kerimov’s son Said Kerimov, who is mentioned as the holder of the controlling package of shares in Russia’s biggest gold mining Polus, the manager of Russia’s Sberbank German Gref, oligarch Oleg Deripaska – this time as an arms, not aluminum tycoon. The EU mentions him as the owned of multiple companies that supply warms to the Russian army, Financial Times reports.
The black list will also include the brother of Putin’s associate Akrady Rotenberg – Boris Rotenberg and relative Igor Rotenberg, as well as the director general of Ozon electronic commercial platform Aleksandr Shulgin.
