German chocolate maker criticised by Ukraine for staying in Russia

German chocolate brand Ritter Sport and its makers Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co have been criticised by Ukrainian government institutions for continuing business in Russia.
German news portal The Berliner Zeitung wrote that a boycott campaign has been launched against the chocolate brand. On April 1, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry wrote on Twitter: «153 killed Ukrainian children will never be able to taste chocolate again. We call on Ritter Sport to leave Russia and stop sponsoring ammo, shells and rockets for killers of our children!»

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany, Andrij Melnyk, also took part. He wrote: «Despite Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Ritter Sport stays in Russia. Good luck»
Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, many European and North American companies have left the aggressor country. They include: Boeing, Nike, Apple, Mango, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Hesburger, Ikea and McDonald’s.
