Latvia has no plans to close its border with Russia and Belarus at the moment

Despite Ukraine’s request for Baltic States to close their borders with Russia and Belarus, Latvia has no plans to do it, said Minister of the Interior Marija Golubeva in her interview to ReTV on 4 April.
She said she sees no opportunity to close down European Union’s external borders and terminate transport connection with Russia and Belarus.
The minister explains: «Currently it would be impossible to do, considering both our citizens and the people who flee Ukraine through Russia and Belarus. And so I cannot image us doing it and helping these people at the same time.»
When asked by ReTV about registration of Ukrainian refugees at the border, Golubeva said these people are registered the moment they turn to any state institution for assistance.
«The State Border Guard monitor the roads leading from Lithuania, to check the risks, inspect cars, make sure children in cars are children of the adults transporting them, etc.,» said Golubeva.
Estonia performs registration of refugees upon them crossing the border. Ukraine has submitted a request to Baltic States and Poland to completely block any supplies from Russia.
