Police in London has found violations of Covid-19 restrictions in a number of festive events with British government officials and announced fines for 20 people, excluding UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who had been asked to resign over the issue, British public broadcaster BBC reports.
London’s Metropolitan Police has investigated a series of parties in 2020 and 2021, when the British government had imposed a number of strict lockdown periods to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

Reports of gatherings in government houses in London’s Downing Street and Whitehall during the lockdown prompted public anger and several Conservative Part legislators called for the Prime Minister, the leader of the Conservative Party, to resign.
The police have stated it would not reveal, who is fined or which events the fixed penalty notices relate to. Meanwhile, the UK government has stated before that it would confirm, if Johnson was facing a fine. The police added, they sought to continue the investigation, with a «significant amount» of material still to be assessed and that more fines could follow, BBC reports.
