The ruling coalition in Latvia has decided to discontinue issuing residence permits in exchange for purchase of real estate property and other investments, said Latvian PM Krišjānis Kariņš after a meeting of coalition parties on Monday, 28 March.
Kariņš stressed that the coalition has decided to discontinue this «golden visa» programme, which allows people to acquire residence permits by investing money, buying an apartment or other investments.
The PM said the Ministry of the Interior works relevant law amendments.
Chairman of Saeima’s Attīstībai/Par! faction Juris Pūce said this way the programme will be discontinued for Russian and Belarusian citizens.
